Teacher's Day

4 April 2024

teacher day_edited_edited.jpg

On the 2nd of April, we celebrated the Teacher Appreciation Day .

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of handmade cards, each a unique expression of gratitude and admiration. These cards, lovingly created by the students, were carefully placed into frames, transforming them into cherished mementos that our teachers will treasure for years to come. Additionally, the morning began with students distributing boxes of chocolates and purifying plants to each and every teacher.

We extend our sincerest thanks to all the students who contributed to making Teacher Appreciation Day a resounding success. Your thoughtfulness and generosity have not only touched the hearts of our teachers but have also reaffirmed the invaluable role they play in shaping our future.

18 March 2024

WhatsApp Image 2023-11-14 at 16_edited.j

The APE invites you to 4 new bike self-repair workshops on Tuesday 19 March, Thursday 4 April, Thursday 16 May and Tuesday 28 May from 3pm to 6pm, in front of the school's main entrance.

The idea remains the same: to help cyclists understand the mechanics of their bikes better and to become self-reliant in dealing with the most common breakdowns. This is not a repair service. Let's all work together to ensure that students learn how to keep their bikes in good condition, for the safety of everyone and for the sustainable use of bicycles.

Our partner for this initiative is Velostation.

Plants for all the classrooms

16 February 2023

plants_edited.jpg

The APE puts a touch of green into each classroom of the school, as well as offices of the administration and teachers’ lounge.

Yet to arrive are bigger trees/plants for the common areas such as hall and Aula. Every class has thereby “adopted” a “plant pet” and it will be their shared responsibility to take care of it.

Ahead of schedule, we wish you a happy spring!

Dear parents,

The APE invites you to 2 bike self-repair workshops on Tuesday 14 November and Thursday 23 November from 3pm to 5pm, in front of the school's main entrance.

The idea is to teach cyclists how to understand the mechanics of their bikes and become self-sufficient in dealing with the most common breakdowns. This is not a repair service. Let's all work together to ensure that students learn how to keep their bikes in good condition, for the safety of everyone and for the sustainable use of bicycles.

Hommage Dominique Bernard

16 October 2023

hommage.jpeg

The Parents' Association of the European School of Strasbourg (APE-EES) extends its deepest condolences to the family of Dominique Bernard and its heartfelt sympathy to all victims of the attack. We would also like to express our solidarity and support to all the teachers, students, parents and staff of the school.

The APE-EES would also like to pay tribute to the memory of Samuel Paty, who was murdered in similar circumstances just 3 years ago.

Today, our thoughts are with everyone (teachers, school management, support and healthcare staff, parents) who invest so much time and effort in our school each and every day.

Our children are our future. Let's work together to protect our schools and help shape the citizens of tomorrow.

Thank you for your vote!

13 October 2023

Many thanks to all for participating in the first ever digital election to the Governing Board of the EES.

We are pleased to note that since 2020 the turnout is steadily increasing, and now reached 496 votes!

Looking forward to an even better election in 2024!

ELECTIONS

11 October 2023

Go Vote Flyers

Dear parents,

This year’s election of parents’ representatives to the School’s Governing Board is ELECTRONIC. It means that your child will not bring you the ballot to fill out and put in the ballot box but you will vote ONLINE. It’s a big change, please follow carefully the instructions in communication from School.

From 9 to 13 October 2023, parents of the European School will elect their representatives on the school board (Conseil d'administration-CA). They have 7 seats on the School Board (approximately ¼ of all seats).

7 parents from the members elected at the General Assembly will defend your interests on all issues discussed at meetings of the school Board such as:

  • After-school services

  • European education

  • Relations with the school and its partners

  • Dialogue with class representatives

  • European projects, student exchange programmes

  • Events and parties

  • Environment

The European school board is composed of representatives from:

- School management

- European institutions contributing to the school's budget: Parliament, Ombudsman, Eulisa

- CEA (Communauté européenne d'Alsace)

- City of Strasbourg

- Strasbourg Rectorate

- Parents

- Teaching staff

- Non-teaching staff

- Students

Why vote? an association supported by its members will be in a stronger position to defend your interests, follow through on issues that you raise with us and seek out solutions in cooperation with school management.

The more votes the association has, the greater its legitimacy.

How do I vote ? By selecting the complete list from the electronic vote.

It is not possible to select individual candidates from the list: you can only vote for entire list, 7 full members and 7 substitute members (14 people in total).

The Back2School Get2gether on Friday 6 October from 5PM

26 September 2023

Outdoor Family Day

The Back2School Get2gether on Friday 6 October from 5PM takes place in
the Apollonia Garden, and there will be FUN and ACTIVITIES for the children on the
opposite parking lot, supervised by the UFCV animators allowing for adults to converse, eat and drink (and be merry) enjoying everything good from B'Art’s Café.

As with previous years, we have invited the UFCV staff to come join us so this will be
the perfect occasion to meet the European School team. This year, the APE-EES has
extended the invitation to also include teachers and school admin teams, so
encourage your teacher(s) to come along.

Finally, the newly elected 20 APE-EES board members will be present and able to answer any questions you might have, so do join us and let’s have a great autumnal garden party all together.

General Assembly of APE-EES

22 September 2023

WhatsApp Image 2023-09-21 at 18.40.57.jpeg

Thursday 21 September 6PM was held the General Assembly of the parents’ association of the school. For the third year running, (since the pandemic) the turnout was higher than 50 members and for the third year running, the board of the APE (20 member strong) had more candidates than it had empty seats to fill. This is a positive sign. The new Director of the school, Mr Aubry and his administrative team also came to address the assembly, which was a moment of very interesting information sharing and insights into the functioning of the school.

We now have a fresh board with 9 newly elected members, 4 re-elected members and 7 starting their second year of their mandate. On behalf of this newly composed board, I’d like to say a big thank you to all members who sent along their proxies, but even more so to those who came, listened, and socialized afterwards. It is a very important day for the legal functioning of the APE and ultimately therefore also for you as a member.

With gratitude and congrats to the newly elected board.

See you on 6 October at the Back2school Get2gether in the Apollonia gardens.
